Dodgers Tender Contracts to All Arbitration-Eligible Players

In a somewhat expected move, the Los Angeles Dodgers tendered contracts to all their arbitration-eligible players.

Earlier in the day they reportedly signed Tony Cingrani to a one-year, $2.65M deal. Then they gave contracts to Pedro Baez, Josh Fields, Yimi Garcia, Kiké Hernandez, Joc Pederson, Yasiel Puig, Corey Seager, Chris Taylor and Alex Wood.

Of those names, Garcia may be the only surprise as he struggled this past season after missing all of 2017. However, that also means he won’t cost much and the Dodgers may still believe he can contribute.

The Dodgers can now negotiate deals with all nine players until January 11. If a deal is not reached by that date, then the two sides will have an arbitration hearing. Based on recent history, the team is likely to settle with all nine players. The Dodgers have not had an arbitration hearing since Joe Beimel in 2007.
