Chase Utley couldn’t stay away from the Los Angeles Dodgers for too long.

The team is expected to hire their former second baseman to a role in the baseball operations department, reports Pedro Moura. The exact role is unknown but seeing as how Utley retired to be around more for his kids, it’s likely in a smaller capacity.

Utley took on a mentor role in the clubhouse in his time with the team and many of the younger players should be glad he’s sticking around. It can be assumed that Utley will be around the team as he pleases, helping a bit in spring training as well as in Los Angeles once the season starts.
