After a day full of rumors on Tuesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers weren’t mentioned too much on Wednesday.
One from late Tuesday night showed why the team hasn’t made any traction toward a deal for JT Realmuto.
The holdup with the dodgers on realmuto has been their unwillingness to include Cody Bellinger.

The way the Dodgers are presently constructed, Realmuto is more of a luxury than a necessity and trading one of their best overall players for a luxury isn’t something the front office is going to do.
There was only one other rumor and it involves a team that was mentioned on Tuesday in the Cincinnati Reds.
1/There’s been lots of permutations of #Dodgers #Reds talks, heard latest does NOT have Puig in it. Key salary LAD want to wash is Kemp’s. He has $21.5M left, Homer Bailey $28M. But twd payroll for luxury tax Kemp is $20M, Bailey $17.5M. If Alex Wood also goes LAD would

2/Save about $13M toward tax payroll, gain some financial flexibility for other areas. Cincy would have Wood/Roark as veteran rotation adds if deal can get to finish line.

If we look at the deal as Matt Kemp and Alex Wood for Homer Bailey then it could work for the Dodgers in a couple ways. Yes, they clear salary like Joel Sherman notes. Maybe more importantly a deal like this would clear some space on the roster. It’s well known that the team has a surplus of starters and outfielders, and if they plan to add any of those two positions then they need to rid themselves of some others.
A lack of rumors could be a ‘calm before the storm’ vibe but with the Winter Meetings ending on Thursday, it may also mean that nothing is happening yet.
