Clayton Kershaw is working his way back and he’s taking a big step toward his return to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Ken Gurnick reported that the left-hander would throw a bullpen on Monday ahead of the team’s game with the San Francisco Giants in preparation for a Thursday rehab start with the OKC Dodgers.
In a bit of ironic coincidence, it will be OKC’s Opening Day so Kershaw will get to start an Opening Day for the ninth straight year after all.
Dave Roberts did not say if Kershaw would need another rehab start after Thursday but based on previous times, one would imagine that Kershaw would want to make his next start with the big league club.
Kershaw threw a 50-pitch, three-inning simulated game on Saturday and came away fine. It can be expected that his pitch count would sit in the 60-75 range.
