The Los Angeles Dodgers may be without their starting centerfielder for a while. AJ Pollock will undergo surgery on Thursday for an infection in his elbow and to take out the hardware he has in the elbow from a 2016 injury.

There is no timetable for his return yet.

Dave Roberts said the infection came from Pollock ‘bumping’ his elbow. It’s another tough break for Pollock, who has become known for missing time due to injuries. He’s not expected to miss too much time though.

The former Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder has struggled at the plate this season, hitting .223/.287/.330 with a pair of home runs, 14 RBI and 23 strikeouts in 103 at-bats.

Alex Verdugo is expected to get the bulk of the playing time with Pollock out.
