Before suffering a hamstring injury on June 11th, Corey Seager was on fire. In 30 games started prior to that injury, Seager was hitting .336 with a 1.008 OPS. Therefore, Seager was definitely rounding back into his form as one of the game’s best shortstops.
Now, Jorge Castillo has an update on twitter with some positive news. Prior to Monday’s contest in Arizona, Seager took grounders and ran for the first time since injuring his hamstring. Obviously, when you’re dealing with a leg-injury of this variety; mobility is a good thing.
Furthermore, Castillo says that Seager will take some flips in the cage and swing the bat a little.
Corey Seager said he took groundballs and ran yesterday for the first time since injuring his hamstring. The plan was for him to take flips in the cage today for the first time.

Equally important, the Dodgers are talking about a return date for Seager. Earlier today we talked about A.J. Pollock’s target date to return to the Dodgers’ lineup. While that may not get you as excited as a Seager return – the Dodgers could be at full strength for a big series.
Of course, that series is none other than the World Series re-match to be held at Fenway Park which begins on July 12th.
That date could also fit for Corey Seager and Dave Freese’s returns, Dave Roberts said. The Dodgers could be back to full strength for the Red Sox series.

Unfortunately, injuries have robbed Seager of a lot of plate appearances and innings during his age-24 and age-25 season. Hopefully, that trend comes to an end with this next return to the lineup.
Truly, few things can add the dimension to the Los Angeles Dodgers like a player who has an MVP pedigree when he’s fully healthy. Finally, the impact of getting Seager back is like adding an All-Star player in a trade you don’t even need to make in the middle of July.
Plus – let’s be honest – baseball is a lot more fun with Mr. Steal Yo Girl playing ball with that trademark slow, calm heartbeat we have all grown to love.
