Dodgers Call Up Edwin Rios from Oklahoma City

The Dodgers have reportedly called up first/third baseman Edwin Rios from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

This is somewhat of a surprising move considering that the Dodgers have been forced to stress their bullpen and have a series at Coors Field on tap.

In corresponding moves, pitchers Tony Gonsolin and Caleb Ferguson were optioned to triple-A Oklahama City. Gonsolin, made his Major League debut on Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.

Additionally, Zac Rosscup had his contract purchased from OKC, while AJ Pollock was transferred to the 60-day IL. More to come on those moves.

In Oklahoma City, Rios has just an 85 wRC+ and 14 home runs in 70 games. His biggest issue is his affinity for strikeouts, checking in with a rate just over a brutal 36%.

He was recently asked what it would mean getting called up to the big leagues.
