The Los Angeles Dodgers have traded for a bullpen piece but don’t get too excited.
Dodgers announced they acquired right-hander Casey Sadler from Rays in exchange for right-hander Nathan Witt. Sadler was added to the 40-man roster and optioned to OKC. Rich Hill was transferred to the 60-day injured list to create a spot on the 40-man.

Sadler was designated for assignment by the Tampa Bay Rays when they called up two-way player Brendan McKay.
The right-hander appeared in eight games this season, holding a 1.86 ERA, 4.35 FIP, 1.086 WHIP and 11 strikeouts in 19.1 innings pitched. In Triple-A, he had a 2.76 ERA with 44 strikeouts in 32.2 innings pitched (11 appearances, three games started).
It would be appear that Sadler is nothing more than a depth move. He could appear with the Dodgers at some point but don’t expect too much at the moment.
As for Nathan Witt, he was a 17th-round pick in the 2017 draft. The right-handed reliever has a 5.32 ERA in 22 appearances this season.
