Dodgers News: Devin Mann Named Player of the Month in Minor Leagues

Dodgers’ infield prospect Devin Mann was named the Uncle Ray’s Player of the Month Award recipient for the month of June.

The award is given monthly to the top minor leaguer in each of the 10 leagues. He is the recipient for the California League as he is currently with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, the single-A affiliate of the Dodgers.

Mann follows Niko Hulsizer as the second Dodger to win a minor league player of the month award this year.

In June, Mann, 22, lead the Cal League in home runs with 10 and total bases with 63. He also finished second in slugging percentage (.656), RBI (21) and he was third in OPS (1.017). He also had nine multi-hit games, including four straight from June 20-23.

Over 326 plate appearances for the Quakes this season, Mann is hitting .283/.350/.528 with 17 home runs, 55 RBIs, 48 runs scored and a 138 wRC+.

Mann spent the offseason working with Dodgers’ hitting coach Robert Van Scoyoc and hitting consultant Craig Wallenbrock and he has shown increased power versus higher level pitchers. He is someone who could rise through the minor league system quickly.

He was selected by the Dodgers in the fifth round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft out of Louisville.
