Dodgers News: David Freese Activated, Kyle Garlick and Edwin Rios Optioned

David Freese’s stint on the IL has finally come to an end as the Dodgers activated the infielder on Monday morning.

As a result of the move, both Kyle Garlick and Edwin Ríos have been optioned to Oklahoma City.

Freese proved to be an important piece to the Dodgers before suffering a left hamstring strain in late June. Appearing in only 56 games, he’s batting .308 with 8 home runs and a .999 OPS.

While somewhat short, Rios’ time with the team was impressive. He recorded his first career MLB hit on June 29 against the Colorado Rockies and finished his first stint batting .267 with a .421 OBP in 8 games.

Garlick, who’s name has become more familiar to Dodgers fans thanks to his extended time with the team this year, played in 25 games while batting .216 and recording 2 home runs — including one off of Madison Bumgarner —  with 4 RBI.
