Cody Bellinger First in Dodgers Record Book for Home Runs Before 24

On Saturday night in Boston, the newly minted 24 year-old Cody Bellinger hit his league-lead tying 31st home run in 2019.

But that’s his first home run as a 24 year-old. Before then, from 2017 until turning 24 in 2019, a 21-23 year-old Bellinger smacked 94 home runs in 383 games.

That’s an all time Dodgers record.

From April 25, 2017 through July 12, 2019, Cody’s 94 home runs are 18 more than Adrian Beltre, who hit 76 out of the park in 652 games between 1998 and 2002. Corey Seager is fifth on that list with 52 between 2015-2017.

Bellinger got himself off to a great start when he established a new National League rookie record for home runs with 39 in 2017. Even in a down 2018, he still posted 25.

Even when expanding the Dodgers’ all-time homer list to players under 25 years old, Bellinger already ranks second behind Adrian Beltre (99). In other words, Bellinger only needs 6 home runs as a 24-year-old to become the first Dodger player to hit 100 homers before turning 25.

Long story short here, Cody Bellinger is good at his worst. Luckily, we’re getting him at his best so far in 2019.
