Los Angeles Dodgers’ outfielder Cody Bellinger and Milwaukee Brewers’ outfielder Christian Yelich are drawing attention in the NL MVP race. First, MLB filmed a great commercial with the pair of superstars. Now, Bellinger takes home some unofficial hardware that he can’t exactly hang on the wall yet.
Still, it’s meaningful for any player to get the recognition. In this case, FOX Sports MLB released a tweet announcing that Cody Bellinger had won the first half MVP award. Equally important, it was voted on by MLB fans.

Anyone paying attention to this has to admit, it’s a bit exciting for the Dodgers and the sport. While Bellinger figures to have a slight edge on the award for the time-being, Yelich is definitely doing his part to push Bellinger.
Remember all the way back in April, this took a life of it’s own. It was then that Yelich spoke about Bellinger’s hot start. Finally, Yelich closed the quote with ‘we will see what happens over the next five months’.
And it was just that – a good couple of weeks to begin the season. However, here we are; several months into that five. Bellinger has continued on his historic path, and Yelich has remained right on Bellinger’s heels.
Obviously, all of this began in a small way when the two squared off in that incredible 2018 NLCS that ran 7 games. Furthermore, this post is not about Bellinger vs. Yelich; but Bellinger really having a first-half that was truly MVP worthy in all senses.
Now, he must finish it off. With all the eyes of the baseball world drawn properly to him and the Dodgers, he has the opportunity to cement himself in the game at the ripe young age of 24. People don’t forget MVP seasons, and that’s why they’re likely to always remember Bellinger’s first half of 2019.
