On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers came to an agreement with LHP Jordan Martinson out of Dallas Baptist University.
Martinson was the New York Mets 11th round selection in the 2019 MLB Draft. The team was unable to reach an agreement with the pitcher, freeing him up to sign a contract with the Dodgers.

Martinson comes in at 22 years old, standing at 6 foot and weighing 210 pounds.
He pitched four years at Dallas Baptist and posted his best numbers by far in 2019, his senior season.
In 2019 Martinson pitched 100 innings over 16 appearances and posted a 2.61 ERA with 115 strikeouts. This came following lackluster years in both his sophomore and junior season, finishing with 4.78 and 5.85 ERAs respectively.
Before college, the LHP was a high school standout in North Richland Hills, Texas. He was named district MVP his senior season at Birdville High School.
Martinson’s stuff is not overwhelming by any means, with a low release point and a fastball that tops out at 91 MPH. He is, however, committed at an analytics-based approach and is known to study his matchups and adjust his pitches accordingly before each appearance.
If everything works out, the Dodgers hope to have possibly stolen another prospect from the Mets, just as they did a few years back when they picked up Justin Turner.
