Dodgers: Gavin Lux’s Hot Hitting Catches the Eye of Dave Roberts

Gavin Lux, arguably the Dodgers’ top prospect in a loaded system, is approaching a big league promotion sooner than expected as he continues to crush baseballs. Manager Dave Roberts is taking notice.

When asked about the emergence of middle infielder Gavin Lux, Roberts credited the Dodgers’ player development before all:

I can’t say enough about player development and scouting. We took Gavin out of Wisconsin and he was a thinner kid and now he’s filled out. The performance now — it’s ridiculous.

Lux is currently posting a 1.640 OPS at Triple-A Oklahoma City through his first 15 games there.

2019 Impact

Roberts also sounded confident that Lux could make an impact possibly later on this year:

He’s coming and we know that and it makes our organization that much better.

The fact that the Dodgers are one of the best two teams in the sport and have managed to accumulate as much minor league talent as they have is crazy.

Roberts also discussed the impact that the system has on the major-league roster

“It’s a lot of fun knowing those players and their makeup and how much they care about being a Dodger and will impact us in the near future.

He alluded to Tony Gonsolin, Dustin May, and Keibert Ruiz by name.

Dave Roberts is correct in everything he says about Gavin Lux. After working on his swing with Robert Van Scoyoc in the off-season, he has taken his game to another level. It would not be surprising to see Lux have a similar impact to the postseason roster like Corey Seager had in 2015. Lux is a special player.
