In the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 2-1 victory over the Marlins on Friday night, heroes were few and far between. Furthermore, the Dodgers scored a couple of manufactured runs. There were no home runs, no phenomenal defensive plays, and no huge hits to win the game.
However, if you’re looking for an effort that was exemplary of excellence; look no further than the All-Star Game starter Hyun-Jin Ryu. Without question, Ryu didn’t have his most dominant stuff. Still, he provided the Dodgers with 7 innings of one-run baseball and 7 strikeouts to go along with that.
Ryu competed in such a manner that he kept his team in the game, and was rewarded with his 11th win of the 2019 season. Now, MLB Stats on Twitter runs it back over the last dozen regular season starts for the Korean hurler. The statistics are hard to fathom:

What’s more, friend and recent guest of the Blue Heaven Podcast Rick Krajewski runs it back a step further. When considering Ryu’s final postseason start at Dodger Stadium, the numbers become even more impressive.
The #Dodgers won another Ryu home start last night. Since September 17th of last season, he has made 13 home starts (regular + postseason). He's 11-0 w/ a 0.69 ERA.
The Dodgers have won all 13.

Recently, we learned about Ryu’s development into the player we are seeing on an every-start basis at the current time. While a player like Cody Bellinger may grab more highlights on the national scene, Ryu’s performance has been just as imperative to the Dodgers’ success in 2019.
Finally – when Ryu takes the bump at Chavez Ravine – it seems like it’s become an attitude. This attitude is taken on by the entire team, and it’s an expectation that they’re going to be victorious after nine innings of baseball.
When you review these numbers over his last 13 starts at Dodger Stadium, it’s easy to see what Ryu sets the tone at home from the first pitch every time out.
