Dodgers News: Dylan Floro to Begin Minor League Rehab Assignment

Dodgers’ right-handed reliever Dylan Floro (neck inflammation) is set to begin a rehab assignment in the coming days, per JP Hoornstra of the Southern California News Group.

With the right-hander throwing for the first time since July 18, this is a positive update. The Colorado series that Hoornstra is alluding to begins July 29.

Floro was struggling and while many believed that he was a ‘phantom’ IL placement, the fact that he is going on a rehab assignment means that he could be dealing with some real issue.

Acquired from the Reds last year, Floro posted a 2.25 ERA in 2018 with Cincinnati and Los Angeles. But he hasn’t shown the same type of production in 2019, tallying a 4.11 ERA in 37 games.

While he opened the 2019 season as as one of the best relievers in baseball over the first few weeks, he’s since pitched to a 9.20 ERA over his last 18 games, allowing runs in 7 contests, and 2 inherited runners to score.

Floro will have all of August and September to prove himself healthy and worthy of the playoff roster spot.
