Stripling was throwing a fairly decent game having thrown only 62 pitches through 5 innings, but he surprisingly replaced by JT Chargois in the sixth inning. Even after Stripling batted for himself in the bottom of the fifth.
It was an interesting few minutes between his removal and the injury announcement with some fans thinking Stripling had been traded.
A stiff neck does not sound too serious and the fact that Stripling did not go down into the tunnel immediately after leaving the game is a good indicator. Should there be an IL stint in store for Chicken Strip, the Dodgers possess more than enough depth to withstand an injury inside of their starting rotation.
Stripling, 29, had posted a 3.48 DRA entering Wednesday’s outing. Just last year, Stripling was an All-Star and posted a sparkling 2.92 DRA.
