LA Dodgers Demonstrating Interest in Reds Southpaw Reliever Amir Garrett

The Dodgers are demonstrating a certain level of interest in Cincinnati Reds’ lefty reliever Amir Garrett, according to Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times.

Castillo recently penned this in a recent column:

The Cincinnati Reds have fallen eight games out of the wild-card race, a slide that could make left-hander Amir Garrett available. Garrett has a 1.85 ERA in 45 appearances, and the Dodgers have interest.

Garrett, 27, is under contract for this season and three additional seasons, making him a free agent in 2024. Dodgers Nation’s own Blake Williams recently wrote about Garrett in-depth here.

A move for Garrett would be an absolute power move for the Dodgers but it is one that would likely cost them a pretty penny in prospect capital.

Here is a look at Garrett’s primary statistics, according to Baseball Savant (they are REALLY good):

Garrett ranks in the 90th percentile in six of the eight statistics.

Garrett is special and there is no doubt about it. On the year, he holds a 1.85 ERA and has racked up 58 strikeouts in 39 innings.
