In an interview on MLB Network Radio with Casey Stern, Dave Roberts was asked about the possibility of Gavin Lux playing a role on the team down the stretch. The answer was intriguing:
Will Gavin Lux (1.502 OPS at AAA) be called up by @Dodgers very soon? @CaseyStern asked Dave Roberts that question a short time ago on @MLBNetworkRadio. Dave laughed and replied, “‘Very soon’ is relative.” My sense: Sure sounds possible in the coming weeks. @MLB @MLBNetwork

Lux is red-hot as has been well-documented, with him posting a 256 wRC+ and hitting eight home runs in just 21 games. The team has no immediate need on the roster for his services, but he could eventually factor into the mix in September when rosters expand.
The current second base mix looks to be a mixture of Max Muncy and Kiké Hernandez with Chris Taylor on the Injured List with a fractured forearm.
Lux figures to be the starting second baseman for the Dodgers as early as September, but 2020 seems more likely for the 21-year-old middle infielder. At Oklahoma City in recent days, Lux has been getting some time at second base to potentially prepare him for big-league time this season.
Lux is currently ranked as the 10th-best prospect in the sport by Fangraphs’ Kiley McDaniel and Eric Longehagen.
