After collecting 3 hits in 3 at-bats, and driving in 6 runs, LA Dodgers catcher Will Smith added his name to the franchise record books.
Per @DodgersPR – Will Smith joins Bernie Hungling (4/16/1922) and Al Lopez (8/13/1930) as the only Dodger rookie catchers w/6 RBI in game. He is the lone Los Angeles Dodger rookie catcher with 6 RBI in game, passing Mike Piazza’s previous high of 5 in a game (2x, last 6/22/1993).

Alanna Rizzo passes on the note from Dodgers PR that with his 6 RBI, Smith tied the all-time franchise record for rookie catchers. The Brooklyn Dodgers had two rookie catchers to achieve the feat — Bernie Hungling and Al Lopez.
Moreover, the 6 RBI evening has Smith as the top Los Angeles Dodger to achieve the feat, passing Mike Pizza’s previous high of 5 set in 1993.
After the game, Smith had this to say on the feat.
That’s pretty cool. There have been a lot of great Dodgers catchers in the passed so that’s pretty cool.
In the post-Austin Barnes era, Smith’s third stint with the big club couldn’t have gotten off to a better start. In 33 big league at-bats in 2019, the Fresh Prince of LAD is now slashing .345/.394/.862 with a 206 wRC+. He’s added 4 home runs and 12 RBI in 10 games.
