The Dodgers have placed IF/OF Kiké Hernandez on the 10-day IL with a left hand sprain. He is expected to have a minimum stay on the IL. To take Hernandez’s spot on the club, the Dodgers have added recent acquisition IF/OF Kristopher Negron to the active roster.
In order to make room on the 25-man roster, the Dodgers placed IF/OF Kiké Hernández on the 10-day injured list with a left-hand sprain and optioned right-hander Jamie Schultz to Triple-A.

Hernandez, 27, holds just a 95 wRC+ this season on 1.3 WAR in 98 games. He hurt his hand just last week during an awkward swing. Hernandez was the only position player truly capable of playing shortstop on the roster outside of Corey Seager, so the organization was forced to go elsewhere for a couple weeks, thus trading for Negron.
Negron, 33, is simply on the team to play defense and act as a backup utility guy, nothing more. His stay on the roster will most likely only last a couple weeks, or until injured players return from the IL. Negron holds just a 42 wRC+ this year and a 73 wRC+ lifetime.
