Dodgers: Ross Stripling Throws Pain Free, Hopes to Avoid Rehab Assignment

While the trade deadline is on the minds of every Dodgers fan, there are still these news topics that don’t involve potential NEW players. In that vein, there’s a Ross Stripling update! On Tuesday in Colorado, Dave Roberts provided an update on Chicken Strip.

Stripling threw pain free for the first time since hitting the 10-day injured list for what was labeled “biceps tendinitis.” Days before the IL placement, he was surprisingly removed from a start after only 62 pitches with a neck issue, so the ailment seems to be moving around.

Moreover, Ross added “I’m not symptom-free but I’m getting close and getting better every day.”

The expectation is that he will not require a rehab assignment, but manager Dave Roberts spoke on the potential timeline of Strip’s return.

Whether it’s 11 days versus 21 days, I don’t know what that length of time is going to be.

Hat tip to Bill Plunkett of the OC Register for the assist on the update.

His condition still appears to be up in the air, but at least he’s getting better and can be a nice mid-August addition to the pitching staff. He’s appeared in 26 games (12 starts) this season while pitching to the tune of a 3.64 ERA in 76.2 innings pitched.

Chicken Strip continues to be a fan favorite, and a favorite of Dodgers Nation. Last month, he took time to join our podcast and touch on a myriad of fun and interesting topics.

Stripling expects to step up his rehab process once the team returns to Los Angeles for a lengthy home stand.
