Dodgers News: Dustin May Officially Added to 25-Man Roster, Gonsolin Recalled

Today the Dodgers announced that they have selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Dustin May to make his MLB debut tonight at Dodger Stadium. Surprisingly, the team also recalled RHP Tony Gonsolin from Triple-A Oklahoma City as well.

To make room for May and Gonsolin, the team optioned RHP Dylan Floro to AAA, and placed LHP Hyun-Jin Ryu on the 10-day injured list with neck soreness. Possibly of the phantom variety.

Floro had just made his return from the injured list, making one scoreless appearance.

To make room on the 40-man roster, LHP Scott Alexander was transferred to the 60-day IL with continued forearm soreness.

Ryu’s time on the IL should be retroactive to August 1st. This is second stint on the IL in 2019 after he missed the minimum amount of time in April with a slight groin strain. His neck issue is not considered serious.

More on may from the Dodgers official press release:

May, 21, was originally selected by the Dodgers in the third round of the 2016 First Year Player Draft out of Northwest High School (Tx.). He has been with the organization for four seasons, posting a combined 24-17 record with a 3.50 ERA (157 ER/403.2 IP) and 394 strikeouts.

The Dodgers 2018 Minor League Pitcher of the Year has split the season between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City, going a combined 6-5 with a 3.38 ERA (40 ER/106.2 IP) and 110 strikeouts. On Monday, he was named the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week, going 2-0 with a 0.75 ERA (1 ER/12.0 IP) while striking out 10 hitters from July 22 through July 28.
