Dodgers Josiah Gray Named Texas League Pitcher of the Week

Dodgers’ top prospect Josiah Gray has been named the Player of the Week after a stellar 11 inning, two-start performance that included 11 strikeouts for the right-hander.

Gray, just 21 years of age, has risen up the prospect leaderboards in recent months as it appears he cannot be stopped by any level.

Gray has found a way to pull of a rare feat: a successful jump from the Great Lakes Loons to the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes to the Double-A Tulsa Drillers. He has simply performed at every stop at an above-average level. He hasn’t just passed — he has excelled.

Across all three levels in 2019, Gray has posted an excellent 1.97 ERA and 0.90 WHIP with a 28.5 K% and 5.2 BB% in 114 innings pitched. He is showing all kinds of elite skills in the minors this season through a 21 start sample size. Gray is working his way into the top-five consensus Dodgers prospects in swift fashion.

Gray came to the Dodgers this past off-season in the Yasiel Puig/Matt Kemp multi-player deal with the Cincinnati Reds. He currently ranks as the Dodgers’ fifth-best prospect and the 105th-best prospect in the sport according to Fangraphs’ Kiley McDaniel and Eric Longenhagen.
