Dodgers ace Hyun-jin Ryu is set to start on Sunday against the Arizona Diamondbacks in the final game of this home stand.

Over the weekend, Ryu was placed on the 10-day Injured List retroactive to August 1 with a neck issue. Before Ryu got injured, he was a nightmare for opposing batters. This season, Ryu has a record of 11-2 with a 1.53 ERA, which is tops in all of baseball (for qualifiers).
It’s worth noting that on Tuesday, Ryu threw a bullpen session without incident. He will take the spot of recently optioned out Tony Gonsolin in the rotation.
After digging into Ryu’s chances at winning the National League Cy Young Award in 2019 yesterday, the ace will look to increase add to his lead over Washington Nationals ace Max Scherzer.
Ryu has been phenomenal this season; a season where he was named the starter for the NL squad in the 2019 All-Star game. Moreover, Ryu has been phenomenal over the last two calendar years. Since the start of the 2018 season, Monster has a record of 18-5 with a 1.69 ERA (!) in 36 starts and 218 innings pitched.
In 2019 alone, he’s accrued a 5.1 bWAR, good for second most in the NL behind his Cy Young competition, Max Scherzer.
It’s good to see to Ryu healthy, and he will look to continue his dominating campaign on Sunday.
