Dodgers Quickly Approaching Franchise Walk-Off Win Record

The ‘never say die’ Los Angeles Dodgers did it again on Wednesday – sweeping the St. Louis Cardinals with two outs in the final frame. Truly, it’s becoming common theme. While you might think the Dodgers are done, no one taps them on the shoulder to remind them that they have no shot. Then, they somehow pull victory from the jaws of defeat.

In fact, the Dodgers have 10 walk-off wins to their credit in 2019. Equally important, they’re approaching the franchise record for wins of that sort; which was set in 1974. With the record at 15, the Dodgers could be closing in on another tally in the record books.

A tweet by Bill Plunkett of the OC Register displays so many different Dodgers’ grabbing the baton with the late-inning heroics.

Seemingly, it’s happened so many times in so many different fashions; it’s easy to forget some of them.

Furthermore, this is one way the Dodgers have the mark of a champion within them already. Consider how special a team is that; they amass walk-off victories at such a pace that you lose track. It’s unbelievable, given the fact that when a team wins like that; it’s an event during the course of a season that sticks in the memory bank.

While we realize that diminished returns in the mind are only human nature, let’s look back at some of these moments with a little scrap-booking, shall we?

Finally, that doesn’t include Russell Martin’s single that swept St. Louis with just an out left at their disposal on Wednesday afternoon.

Unquestionably, the Dodgers have the fighting spirit that every ball club desires when you leave spring training. This is not a quality that can be taught or learned, it’s something that grows and builds. It reminds us that the ‘chemistry’ concept is not overstated in the game of baseball.

You have a team in front of your very eyes that may set a record for memorable, clutch wins. As the season winds down, how much more magic is left in the boys in blue? Which walk-off win was your favorite? Let us know in the comments below.

And remember, don’t turn them off when it’s late and they’re trailing!
