Dodgers ace Hyun-Jin Ryu made his return from the 10-day injured list, and he dominated once again. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 5 hits, 0 runs, 1 walk, and striking out 4 batters. Ryu improves to 12-2 on the season.
After the game, manager Dave Roberts spoke about Ryu’s performance:
"He didn't skip a beat."

“He was very impressive, as you said. He didn’t skip a beat, he just kept going, and he’s got such a good pulse. Just the ability to keep making pitches, repeat his delivery. I thought the cutter was really good today; the changeup was there, the curveball was sharp, and changing high-low. So, he did everything that he needed to do, and it’s a good hitting club over there and kept ’em off balance. So, it was good to see.”
Dave Roberts on if he’s seen anyone with a pulse-like Hyun-Jin Ryu:
“No. He lulls you to sleep and then gets in on you with a cut fastball. But then when he starts to smell the finish line, he can reach back for more, when they are stressed, he can reach back for more. But, yeah, to not pitch, to miss a start, to come out there, give us 7 innings, was good to see.”
The 2019 All-Star is making his stretch run push toward the NL Cy Young Award where his biggest competition may be health.
