Dodgers Rich Hill Update: Progress as Veteran Rehabilitates with Mound Session

Rich Hill is progressing from his forearm injury, and aiming for a return sometime in September. Hill threw a 25 pitch bullpen session off the mound, and work his way up from there. He will throw one more bullpen session after today before progressing to facing batters. Hill would likely be able to return in early September if there are no setbacks.

The 39 year-old has appeared in 10 games this season, but has an impressive 2.55 ERA to go along with a 4-1 record. However, he has tossed just 53 innings thus far, so he will need to show Dave Roberts and company that he can be ready to be the fourth starting pitcher in the postseason potentially.
There has been some back and forth on whether D. Mountain would have enough time to build up enough of a pitch count to have consideration as a starter in October. September will be key for the veteran.
Hill has appeared in 8 postseason series with Los Angeles since 2016. In 11 games (10 starts), he has complied a 2.66 ERA in 47.1 innings pitched, winning 7 games and losing 4. Hill has 15 years of experience in the Major Leagues, and the Dodgers must make sure Hill is fully healthy heading into the postseason, as he knows how to perform in those pressure type situations.
