Rosters expand on Sunday, and with that, the Dodgers will be getting some reinforcements from the 40-man roster. In the subsequent days following September 1st, the likes of Ross Stripling, Rich Hill, and Julio Urias could be rejoining the pitching staff for the stretch run.
First, an update on Chicken Strip. Stripling has been out since July 25th with neck and right biceps issues. As he was ramping up intensity in the middle of August, he had to be shut down as the irritation resurfaced. Now, he’s ready to face hitters.
.@RossStripling will face hitters tonight in AZ.

Hat tip to SportsNet LA anchor Alanna Rizzo with the update. Ross will throw 3 innings in an Arizona Summer League game tonight and will be reevaluated on Wednesday and Thursday before determining whether he will be activated on Sunday, or will be in need of additional rehab.
Rich Hill
Big D Mountain has been out of action since suffering a strain in his left forearm on June 19th. Hill has been steadily progressing since and faced a big test today, mixing in breaking balls in a 30-pitch bullpen session.
Rich Hill said he threw a 30-pitch bullpen today. Mixed in 10-12 curveballs. Velocity was 88-90 mph. Next bullpen probably Friday or Saturday with a batter standing in.

He will have to progress from a batter standing in, as mentioned in the tweet, to facing live pitching. Whether that will be in an Arizona Summer League game, or a minor league stint in Rancho Cucamonga will be determined next week. It should be noted that the minor league season ends on September 2nd before the start of playoffs.
Julio Urias
Speaking of Rancho, Julio Urias will be added to the Single-A Quakes’ roster and will pitch on Thursday with a planned cap of 3 innings or 45 pitches as a starter.
The plan is for Julio Urias to make one appearance with RC Quakes, throw 2-3 innings then join the #Dodgers next week when he is eligible. Whether he returns as a starter/reliever is TBD but he will be pitching on a regular schedule regardless of role

As Bill Plunkett notes, Urias is expected to be added to the Dodgers active roster once he is eligible to return from suspension on September 2nd.
