Max Muncy Injury
When asked about the expectations on a Max Muncy return timetable, Roberts had the following to say regarding the situation:
“From what I understand, it will be a couple weeks and then he should be back with us.”
Although there is a present fracture to Muncy’s wrist, hearing that the timetable does not jeopardize any of Muncy’s availability for October is obviously fantastic.
When Roberts was asked whether the two week timetable was for a return to baseball activities or for an actual return to the Dodgers lineup, Roberts exuded confidence regarding Muncy:
“Two weeks is realistic and not overly optimistic. This gives him ample time to get ready for the postseason.”
Roberts also went on to say that Muncy’s case, although not the best-case scenario, is not the worst-case scenario either:
“Knowing that it could have been of the 4-6 week variety absolutely makes this good news.”
September Roster Moves
Asked about the upcoming roster expansion, Roberts responded with some interesting names:
“I know Stripling will be activated. Floro will be activated. You look at the current roster and who we have as far as availability, we have only two days to go to figure out who could potentially be. Dustin [May] is not going to start. It is process of elimination.”
Roberts discussed his desire to deploy May in something of a hybrid role.
The Plan for Julio Urías
Reporters asked about the organization’s plans for Urías upon his return and Roberts replied:
“Our plan is to have him active on the 3rd. So to what extent, we haven’t decided yet — to make a start on September 3rd or to come out of the pen. He had a good one..over at Rancho Cucamonga. We will know more soon, but we expect him back on the 3rd.”
September is just about here and things are about to get weird.
