Dodgers News: Alex Verdugo Rehabilitation Plan Announced

Rookie Dodger outfielder Alex Verdugo has missed most of August with an oblique injury. There has been some noise surrounding his recovery in the weeks since he was placed on the 10-day IL, but now comes a plan.

SportsNet LA anchor Alanna Rizzo drops the knowledge.

Dugie will be joining the class Rookie-Advanced Ogden Raptors for a week to face some live pitching, and prepare himself for big league action in the second week of September.

If you’re asking “why Ogden?”, well that’s because the Rookie level team’s season runs through Saturday. Rancho Cucamonga would have been an option ahead of their playoff run, but there’s less certainty on how long that club would be playing.

Alex will be joining the best team in the Pioneer League South as the Raptors own a 15.5 game overall lead in the division, having been crowned both first and second half division winners.

The 23 year-old has posted a .294/.342/.475 triple slash line with 12 home runs and 44 RBI in his first full season of big league action. Moreover, Verdugo is one of the best defensive outfielders on the team with 14 defensive runs saved in 2019.
