Dodgers Activate Trio of Injured Players from the IL

Making good on the promise of days earlier, the Dodgers are getting some boys back. For the Dodgers, September means expanded rosters, and 3 returning players from injury.

Many Happy Returns

For a Dodger team in the midst of a small slide, getting back 3 players can really invigorate a tired offense or a depleted pen.

Ross Stripling isn’t built up to pitch 6 innings or anything, but giving the Dodgers a solid 70-80 pitches is really going to help the double dog days of September. He carries a 3.64 ERA and 3.92 FIP across 76 2/3 innings pitched this season. In a starting capacity, Stripling has held a 3.54 ERA and as a reliever, he holds a 4.02 ERA.

David Freese’s bat, solid glove, and veteran presence will really help the club. He was hitting .300/.399/.579 before injury. That’s a hot right handed bat the Dodgers have surely missed.

Dylan Floro has had a season filled with struggles. He’s posted a 3.89 ERA in 39 games in 2019, but just a 1.93 ERA in 5 appearances since the All-Star break. Floro’s pitch movement has never been an issue, it’s been his strength. Throwing strikes and location could make all the difference.

Both Stripling and Freese will be tested immediately as they are starting on Sunday.

40 Man Roster

Adding these 3 key players back is perfect during the month where an MLB team can carry enough players to field an NFL team. It appears these 3 familiar names will not be the only guys added to the roster.
