Dodgers: Poll Predicts Hyun-Jin Ryu Returning to LA

A recent article from MLB.com’s Manny Randhawa broke down the results of a poll by MLB Trade Rumors. The poll asked fans where they think some of the top free agents in baseball will end up this winter.

While the Dodgers did show up in polls for Gerrit Cole (4.8%), Anthony Rendon (8.2%), Stephen Strasburg (2.1%), Zack Wheeler (2.8%), and Madison Bumgarner (1.1%), 46.5% of MLBTR readers see the Dodgers keeping Cy Young runner-up Hyun-Jin Ryu.

Ryu’s next most likely destination according to the poll is the Texas Rangers, who come in at 8.7% of votes. This is what Randhawa had to say about Ryu’s free agency:

“Coming off a career season in which he was finally able to stay healthy and put it all together, Ryu returning to the Dodgers is certainly a good possibility. But the second-place team in this poll presents an intriguing possibility in itself — Ryu’s countryman Shin-Soo Choo said earlier this month he encouraged the Rangers’ front office to look into inking Ryu, who is reportedly looking for a three- or four-year deal. Indeed, MLBTR, in its own predictions for where its top 50 free agents would end up, have Ryu going to Texas on a three-year, $54 million pact.”

Earlier this off-season Ryu has been linked to Texas in rumors, but there’s a likelihood that his market won’t develop until after one of Gerrit Cole or Stephen Strasburg come off the table.
