Dodgers: Tony Gonsolin to Start Friday, Terrance Gore Designated for Assignment

After so much mystery surrounding the Dodgers Friday night starter, we finally have our answer. Dave Roberts announced that they will be pulling Tony Gonsolin from the alternate site to make the start in place of Alex Wood.

Gonsolin was previously optioned back to the Dodgers USC camp back on the 18th before the season kicked off. Fans were initially surprised that he had not made the roster, though Gonsolin was a late arrival to camp. The opt-out of David Price was supposed to have put him in a better sport to make the team.

In 6 starts for the Dodgers in 2019, Gonsolin threw 28 innings and pitched to a 2.89 earned run average. Gonsolin also made 5 additional appearances in relief for Los Angeles.

The Dodgers have also not officially given a date for Clayton Kershaw’s return. The southpaw went down on Opening Day with a back tweak that landed him on the 10-day injured list. Dave Roberts did confirm that if Kershaw goes on Sunday, Walker Buehler’s scheduled start will be pushed to Monday against the Padres.

Dodgers Roster Move

In corresponding moves, the Dodgers have designated outfielder Terrance Gore for assignment. Victor Gonzalez has taken his spot on the roster after being recalled from the taxi squad. The Dodgers start a four-game series in Arizona tonight, so fresh arms will certainly play up.
