Dodgers News: Walker Buehler Will be Part of FOX’s NLDS Coverage

Dodgers pitcher Walker Buehler won’t be able to take part in the 2022 postseason on the field — other than to throw out an occasional first pitch — but we found out on Tuesday morning that Buehler will be part of the postseason in a different way.

Now, contrary to what a certain segment of social media seemed to think from this news, Buehler will not be involved in the calling of games. Instead, he’ll be in the studio for “select” appearances on pregame and/or postgame shows, according to FOX’s press release.

Host Kevin Burkhardt anchors FOX Sports’ Emmy Award-winning studio desk which includes Hall of Famers Frank Thomas and David Ortiz alongside World Series champion Alex Rodriguez. The network’s studio bullpen continues to flex its strength as two-time MLB All-Star and 2003 World Series champion Dontrelle Willis and two-time MLB All Star and 2020 World Series champion Walker Buehler join the team for select NLDS matchups as pitching analysts.

The injured pitcher took to Instagram to announce the news in a story. In the post, he revealed that he’ll be in studio on Friday for game three of the series with the Padres.

Buehler had a nightmare season this year, posting his highest ERA since becoming a full-time big-leaguer and then seeing his season end in June with an injury that eventually required his second Tommy John surgery. He ended the season 6-3 with a 4.02 ERA.

Buehler is widely regarded as one of the most cerebral pitchers in baseball, so his insights on the national stage should be interesting. Heck, it might even be enough to get Dodger fans to not immediately turn off the TV when they see A-Rod and his buddies show up on the screen.
