Dodgers vs Padres: Lineups, Pregame Matchups, How to Watch and More for October 14

We have ourselves a series. The Dodgers and Padres are now tied 1-1 as the Dodgers head to Petco Park in what is set up to be a hostile game three.

Clayton Kershaw did not have his best pitching performance but the Dodgers batting unit also failed to capitalize more times than not with runners in scoring position. Costly mistakes that can completely alter the rest of the series, but the Dodgers will look to make some proper postseason adjustments to move forward.

In one of the most important games of the season, the Dodgers choose to go to someone they’ve relied heavily on in the regular season when available and will start Tony Gonsolin on the mound. It remains to be seen how much he will be utilized after appearing in just one regular season game after coming back from his forearm injury (1.0 innings pitched).

It’s likely Gonsolin’s workload will remain a minimum but the Dodgers sure can use help from someone who finished the regular season with a 16-1 record and a 2.14 ERA. It seems the hope is to help give him more reps prior to going deeper into the postseason.

Blake Snell draws the start for the Padres. Snell is coming off a game two loss to the Mets where he pitched 3.1 innings and gave up two earned runs including one home run and six walks with five strikeouts.

As mentioned previously by Dave Roberts, Chris Taylor draws the start for the first time this series in left field moving Trayce Thompson to center field and Cody Bellinger to the bench. Austin Barnes also draws the start for the first time this series at catcher and moves Will Smith to the DH.

Max Muncy shifts over to second base moving Justin Turner to third base and pushing Gavin Lux to the bench.

The Dodgers enter dangerous territory tonight as they look to take back control of the series. The game will be broadcasted on FS1 and can also be listened on the radio on AM570, KTNQ and ESPN Radio.

The first pitch is scheduled for 5:37 PM.
